Pet Store Tycoon: Unlock Animals and Add Pocket Pets
Separate animal unlocks from habitat and pack purchases, prepare an available family for your shop, and plan your next animal addition.
Unlocking animals in Pet Store Tycoon opens up more options beyond your starting fish shop. A progressed store can unlock Pocket Pets, then buy the habitat and packs for that family. Treat the family unlock, the habitat purchase and the pack opening as separate steps: gaining access to a family does not automatically fill its enclosure.
This session shows a shop that has reached Pocket Pets and starts building out its critter selection.
Start from the animal options your shop has available
Use the game's animal selection to distinguish your available families from the ones you are still working toward. Progression opens new animals as the store grows, so your next purchase should belong to an option the shop can currently use.
Pocket Pets are a useful example of what happens after an unlock. Once that family is available, the store can obtain its habitat and buy its packs. There is a practical difference between seeing the family name in the selection and being ready to add its animals to the shop.
Complete the progression tasks displayed for your store as you work toward another family. For example, a task to restore two enclosures awards money and XP when completed. Do the requested enclosure work and finish that task before moving on to another purchase. Read the result and the newly available options so your next purchase belongs to the shop stage you have reached.
Prepare the habitat before filling it
An unlocked family still needs a place for its pets. For Pocket Pets, plan the habitat purchase alongside the packs. Buying new animals and then discovering that the store has no suitable enclosure leaves the new family only partly set up.
As an early budget recommendation, reserve money for that complete addition rather than spending everything on packs. The habitat and the pets serve different roles: one gives the family its place in the shop, while the other supplies the animals you are adding.
| Step | What changes | What remains to do |
|---|---|---|
| Unlock a new family | Its animal options become available | Prepare a suitable habitat |
| Buy the habitat | The shop has an enclosure for that family | Obtain its pets |
| Buy and open a pack | New animals are revealed | Keep and place the intended pets |
Obtain pets from the unlocked family
Choose the available pack for the family you intend to develop, then follow its opening process. Keep the pets you want to add and place them in the appropriate enclosure. The pet-pack guide explains the opening flow and why you should inspect the payment type before confirming a purchase.
For a newly unlocked Pocket Pets section, make the habitat usable before buying additional packs simply to increase variety. This keeps your next spending decision attached to a concrete shop addition. More pack openings are a collection choice once the family has its basic place in the store.
Pick one progression goal at a time
Use the animal list to choose a family you want next. Then separate that goal into access, housing and obtaining animals. This avoids treating every visible animal option as an immediate shopping list.
If the starting store is still difficult to run, return to the how-to-play guide before committing to another family. Keep the current shop functioning while you work toward its next addition, so your unlock becomes a usable section rather than a purchase you cannot finish setting up.
FAQ
Does unlocking Pocket Pets give me the pets automatically?
The progressed shop can buy their habitat and packs. Access to the family is separate from obtaining and placing the animals.
Should I buy a habitat or more packs first?
Prepare the habitat as part of the new-family budget. Then open packs for animals you have somewhere suitable to place.
What level unlocks every family?
Use the requirement shown for the option in your own game. This guide does not assign a fixed level schedule to all families.
